Born We always wanted to start a family to coincide with our 5th anniversary and we managed to do so :) Rahul was born on the 21st of Nov 2005 at the Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. My wife's labor was long but the delivery was eventually normal. My in-laws were with us from Oct 2005 to Apr 2006.
Coming up with a Name We did not have much of a debate with the name. We always wanted to name our son Rahul or some other name starting with the letter R or A and our daughter with some name starting in S. I have to be honest and say that us being fans of Shahrukh Khan (bollywood actor) did have a strong influence in the name we chose :) That and the fact that my parents too loved the name, sealed the deal. Usually I have seen so much contention in other families between husband & wife, parents & grandparents over the name. But I have to say I was more than surprised to see that we were unanimously in favor of Rahul. We also believe in numerology and so we named him M.R.Rahul as per Indian convention (totals 23) - kind of cool as you can read it as Mr. Rahul. His official name in his passport is Rahul M. Rajkumar (yup he has a middle initial and middle name - very uncommon in my family)
Naming Ceremony (Naamakaran) We did have a grand naming ceremony for Rahul on Dec 26th 2005 which was well attended by my close friends and everyone in my immediate family (both mine & Sweetha's parents) and the immediate families of both my brother and sister who all flew in from India to attend it.
First Trip Rahul's first trip by car was to the Macy's in Bellevue Square Mall and his first trip by air was to the Bay Area, California to visit my friends Bharath, Ritesh, Aish & Srinivas.
Food Habits Rahul drinks Enfamil mostly. He began his first semi-solid diet after completing 5 months on April 23rd with Rice Cereal.
